Our Services

Wellness Exams

Wellness exams are a key part of your pets’ health and wellbeing. Here at North Tampa Pet Hospital, we prioritize your pet’s health and wellness, as it is the backbone of our care. We offer Wellness Plans, which are affordable healthcare plans that spread the cost of preventative care over twelve months. Unlike pet insurance, Pet Wellness Plans always provide the services you pay for. The veterinarians here at North Tampa Pet Hospital recommend two wellness exams per year to ensure your pet is healthy and to inform you of any possible problems that could worsen without proper treatment. Behavioral Medicine

It can be difficult to train pets, especially when there is an underlying problem. Our veterinarians at North Tampa Pet Hospital take into consideration the environment, energy levels, age, and other factors to determine if there are behavioral issues and the best way to treat them.

If you are having difficulty training your pet or have a new puppy or kitten, our veterinarians can advise you to help the relationship between you and your pet be happy, functional, and healthy.

Dental Care & Cleaning Services

Taking care of your pet’s teeth is one of the easiest ways to prevent future health problems for your pet.

Not only can lack dental care cause bad breath, but your pet can lose teeth, making it difficult to eat, and infections in the mouth can lead to other problems including liver, kidney, and heart-related diseases. North Tampa Pet Hospital veterinarians and staff also understand that it can be difficult to brush your cat or dog’s teeth, which is why we offer anesthesia dentals so that your pet’s teeth can be cleaned completely with little upset to your pet – they will be asleep during the entire procedure.

We also offer wellness plans that cover dental cleanings, making your pet’s routine vaccines, diagnostics, and dental care possible in monthly, affordable payments.

All dental services include full scaling and polishing, ping injection if needed, and antibiotic injection if needed. Your Veterinarian may also prescribe antibiotics and pain medicine to go home with.

Emergency & Critical Care Services

Even after hours, our veterinarians and staff are available for your pet and can offer medical, diagnostic, and surgical emergency veterinary care. We offer Care Credit to help with payment options. Our caring staff understand that emergency situations can be stressful, and we are here to help you understand your options and care for your pet any day, any time.

Microchipping

One of the easiest ways to ensure your pet’s safety is if it has microchip services. A microchip is a very small chip, the size of a grain of rice, inserted just under the skin between the shoulder blades. It is inserted with a needle and is relatively painless (we recommend inserting the chip during a routine surgery when they are completely anesthetized), and also can be done at any time. The staff at North Tampa Pet Hospital then register your pet’s chip, and if your pet is ever lost and taken to another veterinary clinic or animal care facility, the chip will be scanned and the information associated with the chip will be linked back to you. We have seen many pets returned to their owner simply because of having a microchip.

Nutritional Counseling

What your pet eats has a huge impact on his or her overall health. Whether you have a puppy or kitten, an adult pet, a senior pet, or a pet that needs certain supplements or vitamins, North Tampa PET DEPOT has any food you need. Sometimes, routine bloodwork can detect problems within the body before they become life-threatening sick, and a simple diet change can increase your pet’s life by years.

Also, if you have a request for a specific food, our veterinarians will research the food and order it for you if the pet needs it.

Pain Management

As pets age or if they are injured, our veterinarians can help diagnose pain issues. Sometimes these issues can be corrected with supplements, surgery, acupuncture, or routine care, but we also offer pain management and rehabilitation options for your cat or dog. Not only do we want your pet healthy, but we want them happy, and if they are in pain we can help.

Parasite Prevention & Control Services

Parasites are everywhere in the environment, especially in Florida where it is marshy with sporadic weather. Even if puppies and kittens are dewormed, they can get intestinal parasites throughout their lives. Even strictly indoor cats can get fleas and worms tracked in from shoes or through doors opening, leading to other parasites that can be transmissible to other pets and even humans, where children and pregnant women are most at-risk.

Heartworm, flea, and parasite prevention are just as important as vaccines, so please do not wait until it’s too late to take steps to prevent life-threatening diseases.

Puppy & Kitten Care

If you are new to owning a puppy or kitten or are getting another one – congratulations! Pets are amazing family members and we are excited that you’ve taken the step to expand your family. One of the most important next steps is to ensure its health by taking it to a veterinarian to get the vaccinations and preventive care needed. Many puppies and kittens are born with intestinal parasites, but vaccinating against common viruses and diseases is routine and safe for your pet.

Schedule an appointment at North Tampa Pet Hospital and ask about our wellness plans that cover the cost of all exams, vaccines, routine diagnostics, and deworming for your pet in affordable, monthly payments. We are excited to meet your new family member!

Radiology (X-Rays)

Pets can’t tell us what has happened when they are feeling bad, which is why veterinary medicine uses advanced diagnostics like radiographs, ultrasounds, and other diagnostics to help us diagnose problems.

Whether it is a broken bone or your pet has eaten something it shouldn’t have, a radiograph (or x-ray) can tell us what is happening inside your pet. Radiographs help confirm diagnoses in order for the correct treatment plan. Our state-of-the-art facilities are equipped to take radiographs.

Surgery

The surgical suite and veterinarians at North Tampa Pet Hospital are among the best in its class, offering routine and emergency veterinary surgical procedures. Your pet’s health is extremely important to us and we offer surgical care to ensure they stay healthy. Pets undergoing surgery have routine bloodwork done in order to check their organ functions, giving our veterinarians insight into the health of your pet in order to prepare for the risks involved with being anesthetized.

While the veterinarian performs surgery, every pet is monitored by multiple technicians to ensure the procedure is done safely.

Tests

Regular testing is a recommended preventive measure for your pet’s health and safety. Here are the tests we recommend both annual and bi-annualy to ensure full health. Also some of this testing is required for the purchase of preventatives and or eligibility for any services.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to prevent infectious diseases with the health of your pet and to help prevent the spread of diseases. Routine vaccines for dogs are Rabies, DAPPv (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus combination), leptospirosis, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza.

Routine vaccines for cats are Rabies, FVRCP (panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis, and calicivirus), and Feline Leukemia. Pets’ feces should be tested for internal parasites twice a year, along with an examination by a veterinarian.

We use the 3-year rabies vaccination. If this is the first time your pet is receiving the 3-year vaccine the initial dose is only current for one year to date. Subsequent rabies vaccinations are current for 3 years.

Anti-Parasite Services

Fleas reproduce fast: a single adult flea can lay up to 50 eggs a day. They quickly become a big problem for your pet and a headache for your household. If your dog has fleas, they might bite or chew their skin until it becomes red and inflamed. Ticks can cause Lyme disease, a dangerous illness. If your dog isn’t protected, a single bite from a tiny tick can make them very sick. Heartworm disease is a serious condition that can cause heart failure, permanent damage to your pet’s lungs, and even death.
